It's Been Awhile

Oh my goodness how time flies!  I just spent the last 30 minutes updating my profile on my ancient blog here and the realization of how life changes made me smile, chuckle a bit, and have a Mommy moment as I changed the "plenty of preschool moments" to now say "tween" instead.

A good friend of mine just started a blog and I realized how much I miss writing and it was time to clear off the cyber dust of my blog and start regular posts again.

So good morning!  Or almost afternoon really.  That friend I was just writing about, she had an amazing post yesterday that stated how we are so impatient to get to the next thing in our life that we end up missing out on the now.  Umm, yes totally guilty on this!  How many times am I consumed with where life will get me next that I don't see where life has me now.  I remember many years ago, I was in a Beth Moore study at the church we attended in North Carolina, where one of the women said something so profound.  She said how we are in this season of life for a short amount of time.  That her kids and her husband and herself will only be like this for awhile.  One day, they will be empty nesters, one day her child will be a teenager, one day they will be retired and the house will stay clean and there won't be mountains of laundry to do.  That we need to take a step back and observe and appreciate the now...the journey that God has placed you on during this moment.  I am a beach girl through and through and I am convinced I might be part mermaid...but it never ceases to amaze me when people who live at the beach, don't seem to get excited or find time to go and enjoy that natural beauty right where they are.  Or those that live in the mountains, let the beauty just fade into the background.  Or even us, here in the so called "flyover" states; we have some of the most beautiful sunsets in our great big sky.  And this girl definitely missed her midwest open sky when I spent 6 years in the Blue Ridge mountains, surrounded by trees (which were beautiful in their own way too).

So today, and especially this particular season we are in, I am going to chose to lean in to God and trust the path He has put me on, to enjoy the sprinklings on beauty on this journey, and to stop and take those mental kodak moments, of this amazing life I have been given, during this one of a kind season.
